Roof Replacement in San Antonio, Converse & Laredo

A new shingle roof after a hail storm or after years of Texas sun, inspected and priced by the owner.

A roof replacement is the right call when the roof as a whole has worn out, not just one spot on it. In South Texas that usually happens one of two ways. Either a hail storm damages every slope at once, the way the September 11, 2026 storm did across east San Antonio and Converse, or years of sun and heat slowly dry the shingles out until they crack, curl and stop shedding water.

PCG Roofing replaces roofs in San Antonio, Converse and Laredo. It starts with a free inspection on the roof, not a guess from the street.

Storm replacements follow hail or high wind. Retail replacements are the ones you pay for directly, because the roof is simply old. We do both storm and retail work.

Signs Your Roof Needs Replacing, Not Repairing

A single leak or a few missing shingles is a repair. A replacement is about the condition of the whole roof. These are the signs that usually point that way:

  • Granules in the gutters and bare spots on the shingles. The granules protect the asphalt from the sun. Once they wash off, the shingle underneath ages fast in Texas heat.
  • Curling, cupping or cracked shingles on several slopes. Heat cycling dries the asphalt out until the edges lift and the shingles turn brittle. A brittle shingle is hard to repair cleanly, because the ones around it crack when you work on it.
  • Leaks that keep coming back. Two or three repairs in different places means the roof is near the end of its life.
  • Soft or sagging areas. A roof that gives underfoot or a roofline that dips usually means water has been reaching the wood for a while.
  • Hail damage across the roof. Bruised, cracked or pitted shingles on every slope after a storm call for a closer look. Our hail and storm damage page covers what to look for.

How Texas Heat Wears Out a Shingle Roof

Asphalt shingles are made to flex. Heat takes that away. On a South Texas summer afternoon a dark roof gets far hotter than the air around it, then cools off overnight. That daily swing loosens nails, dries out the sealant that bonds each shingle to the one below, and turns the asphalt brittle. Laredo sits even farther south, with long, hot summers, so plenty of roofs there are replaced for age rather than hail.

Attic heat makes it worse. A poorly ventilated attic holds heat against the underside of the roof, so the shingles cook from both sides. When you replace a roof, ask how the attic breathes. The answer affects how long the new roof lasts.

What to Expect When You Call Us

1. A free inspection

The roof gets walked and looked at up close. Afterward we show you what we found and tell you plainly whether you're looking at a replacement, a repair, or nothing yet.

2. The job explained in plain English

Richard explains how the job will go before it starts. Customers who had never replaced a roof before tell us that patience is what they remember.

3. A contract you can actually read

Our contracts are written in plain English. One customer mentioned his were handwritten and easy to follow. If any line is unclear, ask before you sign.

4. The work, and a clean property afterward

Reviews from our customers mention a crew that worked quickly, showed up on time and left everything clean. We stay until the job is finished and paid for.

Questions to Ask Any Roofer, Including Us

A good quote answers these clearly. Use them to compare bids side by side:

  • What shingle, and what color? Ask for the product by name so you can compare like with like.
  • What happens with the old roof? Ask whether the old layers are coming off or being covered over.
  • What if the wood underneath is damaged? Ask how soft decking is handled and priced if it turns up.
  • What about flashing, vents and pipe boots? Most leaks start there, so ask what is being replaced.
  • Who will I be dealing with? Ask whether the person who sold the job is the person you can call once it's done.

Storm Claim or Paying Directly

When a storm caused the damage

If hail or wind damaged your roof, you may decide to file a claim. If you've never filed a roof claim, we explain how one runs. If you file, we can meet the adjuster at your house. The adjuster works for your insurance company. If your insurer approves the work, we build to the approved scope. Our insurance claims page has the full sequence.

When the roof is simply old

Not every roof that needs replacing was hit by a storm. In Laredo a roof is more often replaced because the sun wore it out than because of hail. For these retail jobs, we price shingle roofs very competitively. Ask for a written quote and compare it line by line with anyone else's.

Replacing a Roof That Has Solar Panels on It

Solar panels sit on top of the shingles, so they have to come off before the roof can be replaced. We handle both halves: we take the panels off, do the roof work, and put them back. More on our solar panel removal and reinstall page.

Roof Replacement Questions

How do I know if my roof needs replacing or just a repair?

A repair fixes one area. A replacement makes sense when the wear is across the whole roof: granule loss, curled or brittle shingles on several slopes, leaks that keep coming back, or hail damage on every slope. The free inspection settles it.

My roof was damaged in a storm. How does the insurance side work?

Filing is your call. The claim is between you and your insurer. Our insurance claims page lays out how a Texas roof claim runs, from the adjuster's visit to the final payment.

Can you replace a roof I am paying for myself?

Yes. A homeowner-paid roof starts with the same free inspection, and you get the price in writing to compare with other quotes.

What will the contract look like?

Readable, without legal jargon, so you know exactly what you are agreeing to before work starts.

What happens to my solar panels during a replacement?

They come off before the tear-off and go back on once the new roof is done.

Who will I be dealing with?

Richard, the owner. We answer 7 days a week, 8 AM to 9 PM.

What Homeowners Say About Their New Roof

Reviews left by Puigdomenech Contracting Group customers on Google, shown word for word.

Richard was able to help me throughout the entire process. I have no experience in these types of claims but Richard was very patient in answering my questions and concerns. He gets the job done like he guarantees. I've referred him to my neighbor after showing my roof off and he's about to get his fixed also. Richard is your go to guy when it comes to replacing your roof. His crew was able to uninstally 27 solar panels and put them back on with no issues, taking over and guaranteing workmanship on the panels also.

My wife and I were new home owners at the time and very afraid of being burned by the insurance company and any roofers we selected. Puigdomenech came recommended to me by my neighbor, and I am thankful they were. Naturally, my wife and I very wary of any potential scammers, but at the same time we were ignorant of the process. Richard, with Puigdomenech, was very patient in explaining the process we could expect when submitting a claim to have the roof repaired. As further assurance, everything was laid out in hand written contracts, in plain English without all that "Legal-ese." The actual roof work was done quickly and looks fantastic. In the years we have had the roof I have not seen a single issue. Unfortunately for Puigdomenech, our insurance company was less than kind and sent these roofers on a years long ordeal in an attempt to obtain final payment. Puigdomenech did not wish to involve my wife and I for fear of stressing out the new home owners, and we thank them for that. But I am pleased to say we were able to obtain final payment (and no longer support that insurance company). Long story short, we highly recommend Puigdomenech Contracting. They are clearly a reputation and reliability first company. I would definitely recommend them for any contracting needs.

Richard Puigdomenech blew away his formidable competition by offering a TEN year labor and material warranty , as well as a THIRTY year product warranty ! His attention to detail made sure everything flowed smoothly with workers , materials , insurance requirements , permits , etc. Despite many decades in the real estate rental business , he taught this old veteran quite a few critical things to know about roofing . His patient , focused manner allowed one to gain from his deep knowledge in layman's terms . Even his perfectly competitive workers aim to please . Thank GOD we picked you . My wife and I will be GRATEFUL FOR MANY MANY DECADES TO COME , and will eventually send a flotilla of investment properties your way for years to come
