From inside Loop 410 to the Hill Country edge, a straight answer about your San Antonio roof.
San Antonio is PCG Roofing’s main market. Richard Puigdomenech has a little over 20 years in construction, and here we do both storm and retail work: roofs replaced after hail, replacements homeowners pay for themselves, and repairs on roofs that aren’t ready to come off yet.
The city is large enough that a roof on one side of it has little in common with a roof on the other. Older streets inside Loop 410 have houses from the middle of the last century, some with more than one layer of shingles and decking that has seen a few repairs. Out past Loop 1604 the subdivisions are younger and the roofs are often the first ones the house ever had.
Whichever part of San Antonio you live in, the first step is the same: a free inspection. Afterward you get a plain answer about whether the roof needs a repair, a replacement, or nothing at all.
Not every new roof in San Antonio follows a storm. When an aging roof simply wears out, you pay for it yourself, and price matters. Shingle roofs are the core of what we install. Richard looks at the roof and prices it himself.
A spring hailstorm can wreck roofs on one side of the city and leave the other side untouched. If your neighborhood was in the path, we inspect the roof and show you what we found.
A slipped shingle, a lifted ridge cap or a few missing tiles can often be fixed without replacing the whole roof. We look at the rest of the roof during the same visit and tell you honestly how much life it has left, so you can plan the bigger job on your own schedule.
The same storm usually hits the siding and paint. We fix those too.
North Side, Inner Loop and Everything Between
Hail is a regular part of spring across San Antonio. In April 2016 a storm that ran from Helotes across the north-central side to Alamo Heights became one of the most expensive hailstorms Texas has recorded, and many roofs along that path have been replaced since. Some of those replacements are now ten years old and have been through several more spring seasons.
Closer in, neighborhoods such as Alamo Heights have older, often larger homes and a mix of roof types, tile included. Note that Alamo Heights is its own incorporated city surrounded by San Antonio, so a job there falls under that city’s rules rather than San Antonio’s. On the east side, Kirby, China Grove and the neighborhoods around them took hail up to 1.75 inches on September 11, 2026.
Wind does its own damage. Strong spring gusts work at ridge caps and the shingles along the edges of a roof, and a single flipped or missing shingle opens a path for water. After a hard storm, a quick look along the ridges and rake edges from the street can catch a small repair before it turns into a leak.
Permits and Paperwork in the City
Inside city limits, building permits are handled by the City of San Antonio’s Development Services Department. Addresses in unincorporated Bexar County, or in one of the small cities that sit inside San Antonio’s boundaries, answer to a different authority, and a San Antonio mailing address does not settle which one applies. Knowing which authority covers your address is useful for any work on the house, roof included.
Many newer San Antonio subdivisions also have a homeowners association, and some set rules on shingle color or style. If yours does, read its guidelines before you settle on a color, because the association may need to approve it before work starts.
Contracts are written in plain English, so you understand what is being done to your house and why before anything is signed. If a line is unclear, ask, and it gets explained until it makes sense.
Insurance Roof or Retail Roof?
Many San Antonio homeowners are not sure which kind of job they have. If a storm did the damage, there may be an insurance claim to consider. It’s your policy, so whether to file is your decision. If the roof is simply old, it is a retail job, and the question becomes how to get a good roof at a fair price.
After the inspection we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at. On a storm job, if you file, we can meet the adjuster at your house. The adjuster works for your insurance company. If your insurer approves the work, we build to the approved scope. On a retail job you get a straight price on the shingle roof and a contract that spells out the work.
Why San Antonio Homeowners Call PCG Roofing
The owner answers. Richard handles the requests from this website himself, so you are dealing with the person who runs the company.
7 days a week, 8 AM to 9 PM. Call after work or on a weekend, whenever you finally have time to deal with the roof.
A clean property at the end. The crew works quickly and leaves your property clean when the roof is done.
With you to the finish. We stay until the job is finished and paid for, so you always know who to call.
Yes. San Antonio is our main market, from east San Antonio to the Hill Country edge and the older neighborhoods inside Loop 410.
Is the roof inspection really free?
Yes. After the inspection you hear whether you are looking at a repair, a replacement, storm damage you may want to talk to your insurer about, or a roof that is fine.
My roof is just old, with no storm damage. Can you still help?
Yes. That is a retail job, paid for by the homeowner, and it gets the same free inspection and a straight price.
How does a hail claim work in San Antonio?
Start with a free inspection. Our insurance claims page has each step.
Who issues roofing permits in San Antonio?
Inside city limits, permits go through the City of San Antonio Development Services Department. Unincorporated Bexar County and the small cities inside San Antonio, such as Alamo Heights, have their own rules.
Do you also fix siding and paint?
Yes. We repair siding and paint exteriors.
What Our Customers Say
Reviews left by Puigdomenech Contracting Group customers on Google, shown word for word.
Richard was able to help me throughout the entire process. I have no experience in these types of claims but Richard was very patient in answering my questions and concerns. He gets the job done like he guarantees. I've referred him to my neighbor after showing my roof off and he's about to get his fixed also. Richard is your go to guy when it comes to replacing your roof. His crew was able to uninstally 27 solar panels and put them back on with no issues, taking over and guaranteing workmanship on the panels also.

Richard Puigdomenech blew away his formidable competition by offering a TEN year labor and material warranty , as well as a THIRTY year product warranty ! His attention to detail made sure everything flowed smoothly with workers , materials , insurance requirements , permits , etc. Despite many decades in the real estate rental business , he taught this old veteran quite a few critical things to know about roofing . His patient , focused manner allowed one to gain from his deep knowledge in layman's terms . Even his perfectly competitive workers aim to please . Thank GOD we picked you . My wife and I will be GRATEFUL FOR MANY MANY DECADES TO COME , and will eventually send a flotilla of investment properties your way for years to come
